Allen G. Pastron, Ph.D.

Allen G. Pastron received his Ph.D. in anthropology from the University of California at Berkeley in 1977. After beginning his graduate studies at U.C. Berkeley in 1968, Dr. Pastron conducted anthropological and archaeological research in North Africa, Mexico, and at numerous sites throughout the western United States. Between 1974 and 1979, Dr. Pastron was employed as Assistant Professor in the Department of Anthropology at Santa Clara University.
In 1976, Dr. Pastron founded Archeo-Tec Inc., the archaeological consulting firm based in Oakland, California. Since that time, Dr. Pastron has served as President and Principal Investigator of Archeo-Tec Inc. Although Archeo-Tec Inc. conducts archaeological and anthropological research throughout Northern California, the firm specializes in historic and prehistoric archaeological investigations within the greater San Francisco Bay Area.
Between the mid-1970s and the present, Archeo-Tec has been selected by both private and public sponsors to conduct historical and/or archaeological research in connection with hundreds of development projects throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. These projects ranged in scope from archival site assessments to major archaeological tests and mitigations of both prehistoric and historic period sites. In his capacity as president of Archeo-Tec, Dr. Pastron has written more than 500 cultural resource reports and/or professional publications concerning the history and archaeology of the San Francisco Bay region.

- 1996: Principal Archaeological Consultant for the proposed Independent School Road Development Project, Castro Valley, Alameda County, California.
- 1999: Principal Archaeological Consultant for a systematic archaeological assessment of the Emeryville Shellmound (CA-ALA-309), Alameda County, California.
- 1999-2000: Principal Archaeological Consultant for the proposed Spenger's Plaza Development Project, Berkeley, Alameda County, California.
- 1998-2007: Principal Archaeological Consultant for the Battery Street Hotel Project in San Francisco, California. Research entailed the excavation, analysis, and interpretation of the remains of a Gold Rush-era buried hulk (General Harrison).
- 2000-2003: Principal Archaeological Consultant for the Rich Sorro Commons Project in San Francisco, California. Investigations unearthed a Chinese laundry dating to the late 1880s.
- 2000-2008: Principal Archaeological Consultant for the Jackson Property (CA-CCO-235) in Lafayette, Contra Costa County, California.
- 2014-2019: Principal Archaeological Consultant for the 1300 El Camino Real Project in Menlo Park, San Mateo County, California.
